The Alaska Dept. of Health and Social Services Division of Public Assistance Child Care Program Office (CCPO) was created to enhance the coordination of child care and early childhood education programs within the state. Through the licensing and accreditation unit, the CCPO ensures that child care centers and family child care homes meet state minimum licensing standards and assists programs in achieving higher-quality standards. The Child Care Program Office (CCPO) is the lead agency for the Federal Child Care Development Fund (CCDF) functions and supervises, regulates, and licenses child care facilities across the state. The department also supports the growth of child care quality through grants to Child Care Resource & Referral agencies and the direct administration of the Child Care Grant Program. In addition, the CCPO ensures that all children have access to quality child care with special attention to infants, school age child care, and children with special needs.
